1975 World Championship

World Championship, 1975

This year was the first season called as World Trial´s Championship; in previous years was named European’s Championship.
Was organized by the FIM, and consisted of 14 GP´s.
The promising switch of Malcolm Rathmell from Bultaco to Montesa marked this season, where he was in charge of developing the new Cota 348, with a bigger engine and an advanced six-speed gearbox.
This season the title was decided in the last race at Czechoslovakia, where 3 pilots arrived very tied, the Bultaco riders Martin Lampkin and Yrjö Vesterinen, and the official Montesa rider Malcolm Rathmell.
Finally, was decided by the number of cleans; the title went to Martin Lampkin, by only one point.
Bultaco introduced the model 158 which was a totally new departure from the previous model; it was called “la Manuel Soler”, because he was in charge of the development.
Yamaha, continued the development of the OW 10 a prototype mounted by Mick Andrews.
